Culture 文化課

Painting, martial arts, chinese chess, are just a few of the cultural activities offered to children.  Culture Class is held after language class from 4:20 pm – 5:00 pm.  Here are the current offerings.

唱遊 Story & Music (SM)

Ages 4+.  For younger students ages 4 & up to learn Chinese kid’s songs and stories with craftwork.

手工 Crafts & Paper Arts (CR)

Ages 4+.  All about crafts and paper arts ! Students need to be able to handle scissors.

畫畫 Painting & Drawing (PD)

Ages 5+.  Students will be placed into age appropriate groups

象棋 Chinese Chess (CS)

Ages 5+. All levels welcome. *Students need to bring own pieces and board. Students will be placed into groups based on skill assessment.

功夫 Martial Arts (MA)

Ages 5+.  No experience is necessary.

兒童珠心算 Chinese Abacus & Mental Math (AM)

Ages 6+.  For students to learn the use of abacus in mathematic calculation.

舞蹈 Junior Dance (JD)

Ages 7+. No dancing experience required. Students will be expected to participate in extra-curricular performances throughout the school year.

籃球 Basketball (BB)

中國結 Chinese Knotting (CK)

Ages 8+. Students learn the art of Chinese knotting. Students will be placed into groups based on skill assessment.

書法 Calligraphy (CA)

Ages 8+.  Students learn Chinese calligraphy

國畫 Chinese Brush Painting (CP)

Ages 9+. Beginner level of Chinese brush painting class for students ages 9 and above. Students will learn the basic techniques (brush holding, brush strokes and ink application etc…). Different subjects will be introduced to students each year such as flowers, insects, animals, and simple landscaping. Students will participate in a gallery show of their works at the end of the year.  Chinese brush painting is a two-semester class; No new student is accepted for the second semester.

扯鈴 Chinese Yo-Yo (YY)

Ages 9+. No experience required. Students will need to have own yoyo and will be placed into groups based on skill assessment. Higher-level students will be expected to participate in extra-curricular performances through out the school year.

傳統手工 Traditional Crafts (TC)

Ages 10+.  Students learn traditional Chinese handy crafts: Dough figures, Fragrant pouches, Paper dolls, Bead arts, 3D origami, Shuttle cock….

作業輔導 Homework Club (HC)

All ages. For students who would like assistance with doing PCLS homework
